Kent Under 18’s reached the final of the South-East Championship with a fine 2-1 win over national champions Essex in a close and competitive game at Ramsgate FC. A good all-round display from Kent was rewarded with a winner from Macauley Murray, whose late free-kick sent Essex – who the previous week had won the ESFA Inter-County Trophy – out of the competition and gave the home side revenge for a narrow defeat in the quarter-final of the national competition. Kent now face Inner London in the final – date and venue to be arranged.

The KSFA wishes to place on record that the selection of two of our county players in the England Under 18 squad this season – continuing the county’s excellent record of providing players for the national team – is the outcome of involvement in schools’ football and not attributable to any link with club or academy football. As the governing body for schools’ football in Kent, the KSFA is autonomous of and independent from club football and, whilst valuing partnerships and links with clubs and other providers of football for young people, does not endorse the involvement of players with any particular club or academy over any others.
